Your 2025 Cancer Season Checklist

With Cancer Season right around the corner, this time of year is one focused on comfort, support, and familiarity.

The transit (moving) Sun spends about one month in each Zodiac sign, and tours each sign at about the same time each year. The sign the Sun tours is its Zodiac Season, and since the Sun shines a light, this brings attention to whatever that Zodiac sign rules for us all.

The Sun tours Cancer June 20th - July 22nd 2025. This Cancer season comes just as Jupiter has entered Cancer, brings a lovely Cancer New Moon, and Uranus is on the move to Gemini!

Follow this 5-point checklist to make the most of this Cancer Season:

01: Fully embrace the Cancer New Moon + Jupiter to the max.

A Cancer New Moon occurs on June 25th 2025, so early in Cancer Season, and this New Moon is conjunct (aligned with) transit Jupiter, who entered Cancer on June 9th. So auspicious!

New Moons are times of new beginnings, and what we begin can be a focus for the next month. But since this New Moon is conjunct Jupiter, it might not be just the next month, but the next DECADE!

Jupiter brings opportunities, and likes to give us some luck, so what we get started with this New Moon might come about in a lucky way, and we can pursue opportunities with zeal and optimism. It can feel like everything is going to work out exactly how we want it to, in the best way possible.

If you want to personalize this, look for Cancer in your birth chart. If you have any planets in Cancer, focus on a new beginning that is ruled by that planet. You can also focus on the house the New Moon falls in, and get started with something that is ruled by the house. This maximizes the beneficial juice of the New Moon for you.

02: Start thinking outside the box with Uranus in Gemini

Uranus moves into Gemini on July 7th, so it’s the next in line of the major planets changing Zodiac signs. Uranus rules the unexpected and unconventional, while Uranus rules the mind, so Uranus entering Gemini is the perfect time to think outside the box.

Let your mind go far and wide. Take the lid off of your imagination. Push your mental boundaries. It's okay, you're the only one who knows about it, and you might surprise yourself with the brilliant thoughts you come up with!

Some ideas might be worth their weight in gold, so make sure to keep track of them. Gemini can get kind of scatterbrained, so we can easily forget what ends up being the winning ideas. If you can't work on it right away, make sure to take note of it somewhere, somehow, to come back to later.

03: Try to improve productivity and efficiency.

Mars, the planet of energy and drive, enters Virgo on June 17th, a few days before Cancer Season kicks off, and is in Virgo for the entirety of Cancer Season.

Mars in Virgo is time for increased productivity. We can strive to be more efficient, structured, organized, and orderly. We can make a list of everything that needs to get done, then methodically get it all done. This can be a period where all of the tasks, chores, and small projects we've been putting off are brought to the forefront and completed.

Since this is paired with Cancer, ruler of the home, we might benefit from channeling this productivity into home and family matters. Do some cleaning and clearing, get your family on a schedule, or make improvements to your home office.

If you normally struggle with productivity, this can be a chance to improve that. Perhaps try traditional ways, or ways that feel comfortable or familiar, or improve your support system to get more productive.

04: Brace for the unexpected in love and relationships in early July.

On July 4th, Venus will conjunct Uranus in Taurus, and both are anaretic. There are 30 degrees in every Zodiac sign, and 29 degrees is the last degree. This is called the anaretic degree, and it’s supercharged energy with the transit planets.

This conjunction occurs just before Venus enters Gemini (literally less than 3 hours before!), and is as Uranus is winding down in Taurus.

Venus is relationships while Uranus is the unexpected and change, so these two conjunct normally makes things interesting in our relationships and brings about change. But with them anaretic? Brace for impact!

This is most likely to impact relationships, partnerships, as well as commitments that have been dicey for a while, but stuck in that bad position. The final straw that breaks the camel’s back can occur, and while it might seem like it comes out of nowhere, it's been adding up for too long.

Prepare yourself by being honest with yourself about the relationships, partnerships, and commitments in your life that aren't going well and have been stuck that way. Get ready for big changes.

Also, with this somewhat impulsive energy, maybe don’t hook up with that dreadful ex you know you need to avoid just because you’re feeling a little nostalgic (they’re a dreadful ex for a reason! go hug a puppy!).

05: Prioritize comfort and support.

Cancer wants, more than anything, comfort and support. This sign is ruled by the emotional Moon, and is a sensitive water sign, so it needs comfort and support in order to feel emotionally stable and secure.

Take time during Cancer Season to give yourself some comfort. Indulge in comfort food (it IS ice cream season, after all), comfort films and shows, comfort books, and comfort places. If you can feel yourself put at ease - and it's not completely unhealthy - then this can be good during Cancer Season.

Assess your support system. If it's solid, reinforce that, and work on sharing support with others. If it's not solid, pinpoint why, and start making changes to build and improve it now.

Recap:

  • start something big with the New Moon

  • pursue unconventional ideas

  • be productive

  • get ready for shakeups in relationships

  • make yourself comfortable
