General Impact of Jupiter in Cancer:
Jupiter is the planet of expansion in astrology. In your natal chart, Jupiter shows the areas of life where you can expand and explore and pursue new experiences based on the house it’s located, and how you go about that based on the sign it’s in.
With transit (moving) Jupiter, this expansive energy is available to all of us all at once. This is super positive! No hard lessons to learn, no blocks to overcome, no baggage to release, no hard times to endure. Jupiter wants everything to be easy and breezy and light. We’re more open and ready for adventure with Jupiter.
In general, Jupiter in Cancer focuses on what Cancer rules: the home and family, emotion, and foundations. The home and family gets top priority, and we can be more invested in improving our home lives in some way. For some, this can mean moving is in the cards, or you may opt to do some remodeling and renovating, or redecorating.
Changes can also come at home involving people moving in or out, like a kid going off to college - or coming back home! Or getting new roommates, or living alone for the first time. Jupiter likes space, so any changes that occur at home and with our living environment may end up giving us more space in some way.
Expansion can also involve our family, and we can see new family members added in - kids being born, relatives getting married. We may try to make more time for family, or for those we think of as family, as well. This can include things like family vacations, or family reunions.
Cancer rules emotions, and with Jupiter being the planet of optimism, we can be much more emotionally optimistic with Jupiter in Cancer. We want to focus on the bright side of situations and not get stuck in serious emotions. This can help us get out of jams, but we do have to be mindful of just trying to avoid the serious when it actually needs our attention.
Cancer is the very bottom of the Zodiac, so it also relates to foundations - of ourselves, our lives, projects, and plans. We can focus on strengthening our internal foundations, the foundations we’re building our lives on, and the foundations of what we’re building. This can also be a time where many of us are starting something from the ground up.
All of this may focus on the areas of life ruled by the house(s) in your natal chart where Jupiter in Cancer will tour. Those areas can be ones where you’re emotionally optimistic, strengthening foundations, making family-like connections, or starting from the bottom.
Some Good and Some Bad for Jupiter in Cancer:
Jupiter will immediately be square (3 signs away) Saturn and Neptune in Aries (exact June 15th 2025 for Saturn and June 24th 2025 for Neptune) as soon as it enters Cancer, so right off of the bat, we may have some challenges with accessing the expansive optimism, helpful changes at home, or strong foundations with Jupiter in Cancer.
Saturn is restrictive while Neptune dissolves, so these two forming challenging aspects to Jupiter cuts off Jupiter’s energy at the onset. With Saturn, we may have to deal with something that requires more discipline and hard work, and opportunities and expansion have to take a back seat. With Neptune, we may struggle with focus, are rundown, or need to address some karmic, spiritual, or subconscious baggage first.
Early on, a Cancer New Moon occurs on June 25th 2025 that is conjunct (aligned with) Jupiter. This does provide some beneficial energy for new beginnings and new ventures since New Moon are times to start new with something, and the alignment with Jupiter brings great luck for this.
The Cancer New Moon can help us take the initiative to make improvements at home, spend time with family, become more positive emotionally, or start from the ground up with a new project or venture. So, the squares aren’t all bad and we do have really helpful energy available to us with this New Moon. We just need to make sure we’re doing things the right way and for the right reasons with Saturn, and shedding what we no longer need with Neptune.
There will be a cardinal t-square August 6th to October 22nd 2025 with Mars in Libra opposing Neptune and Saturn in Aries, and all square Jupiter in Cancer, forming a t-square. Plus Ceres, a dwarf planet ruling nourishment, support, and resources, will be retrograde in Aries starting August 11th - oy, the energy!
This is likely to be a challenging period. Cardinal t-squares are full of activity, and this needs to be directed in a positive way and productively, otherwise it can lead to big problems. We’re likely to see more violence in the world, unfortunately. With Jupiter being the squared planet in Cancer, it’s getting all of the attention, so we can see more internal divisions in countries and attacks from within as this is ruled by Cancer.
Individually, we may get too caught up in our own emotions at times, and become overly subjective. We can’t see the forest from the trees, and refuse to open our minds and listen. We may take things too far emotionally, and use our feelings as an excuse for bad behavior, recklessness, or selfishness.
We’re likely lacking in objectivity, and don’t want to take a step back to see the whole picture. We’d rather stay caught up in our feelings and lash out irrationally.
The way to properly deal with t-squares is via the missing sign, the sign that opposes the squared planet, which is Capricorn for this t-square. We need to be more disciplined, structured, responsible, and pay attention to the long game. On a personal level, you’ll need to apply this to the areas of life ruled by the house in your natal chart where Capricorn lies and Jupiter opposes.
For an oddity: Mercury will turn retrograde (appear to move backward) in Cancer about 12 hours before Jupiter exits Cancer, so right at the end! This means, if we’re not careful, we may come out of this Jupiter in Cancer period having to clean up the mess we’ve made.
We have to make sure we’re being mindful of our actions and choices, and doing things right at home, personally, and internally, otherwise we may come out of Jupiter in Cancer with bigger problems than we realize.
