Gemini Season: A Time for Ideas & Movement

During Gemini Season (which is when the transit, or moving, Sun tours Gemini), this energy plays out broadly for all of us. We tend to be more active and engaged, want to express ourselves openly, and share what’s on our minds.

Gemini Season occurs roughly mid-May to mid-June every year (the Sun has steady movement through the Zodiac), and this time of year stimulates our minds and provokes us to get active after the slow Taurus Season.

We can focus on opportunities to do something tangible with our ideas during Gemini Season, and work to take action quickly. We may not have the best focus for anything that requires lasting attention, so we may stick to things that we can accomplish quickly, or that we can work on in spurts rather than long, drawn out sessions.

We’re so much more engaging that this is an excellent time for sharing information and knowledge, and our minds are much more open to absorbing new data. It can be a time to take a class (but a short one), to do some extra reading or writing, or to become interested in a new topic or subject matter.

Gemini rules our immediate environment, so our neighborhoods and communities, so Gemini Season can be a good time to get more involved, help out a neighbor, or so some mentoring. Gemini also rules travel, however it’s short travel (places you can get to by walking, biking, or driving), so we can have a more packed schedule and go from this place to that.

Gemini Personality Traits:

The Gemini personality is one that is rooted in the mind, first and foremost. It overthinks (often to a fault). This is most seen in a Gemini Sun, Moon, or Rising, but if the Sun, Moon, or Rising are conjunct (aligned with) another planet, it might not be obvious as the other planet takes over (like say, Saturn for example, which would make you seem more serious, quiet, and disciplined - Capricorn-like, ruled by Saturn).

If you have other natal bodies in Gemini, whatever they rule can express itself via Gemini (so it’s more about ideas, plans, thoughts, activity). If you have multiple planets in Gemini, then you can come across as more Gemini-like (even if your Sun or Moon isn’t involved), especially with a stellium (which is 3+ planets together in Gemini).

Even if you have no planets in Gemini in your natal chart, you still have a Gemini house. There are 12 houses, each ruling different parts of your life, and the Gemini house is where that mental energy comes into play for you.

Gemini is highly adaptable, so it can pick up on situations and people pretty easily, though it may not fully realize this consciously. This allows Gemini to ebb and flow with the moment, which can put it in a position to make progress and succeed as long as it has a core goal in mind (otherwise it’ll never land anywhere).

Someone with strong Gemini energy can be quick on their feet, innately curious, always coming up with some new idea or plan, and always on the go. They don’t want to be still for very long, and constantly want to be focused on something that steals their interest.

Classic Gemini, when not manifesting well, is scattered, anxious, and unreliable. It doesn’t trust itself, and tries to contort itself to please others, but this can backfire quickly. Really hard Gemini is two-faced and backstabbing (but that’s REALLY hard Gemini, one that is operating at the absolute lowest level).

Gemini gets to low levels when it’s bored (so that is something that must be avoided), or when it lacks confidence in its mental and communication abilities (so that has to be fostered). Gemini needs to have lots of projects and ideas to work on to entertain the mind, and to develop confidence in its ability to engage with others (often through practice, and sometimes through working on old issues that created blocks).

Gemini can be fun, playful, and a great entertainer when it’s operating well, and can have wonderful conversations and swap knowledge with ease. But stick to the facts, Gemini, and avoid the white lies!

What about when the transit planets are in Gemini?

Gemini Season occurs when the transit Sun is in Gemini, and this impacts all of us as the Sun shines a light, and this means the transit Sun in Gemini is shining a light on Gemini energy in general, making us all more inquisitive, engaging, and expressive.

The other transit planets touring Gemini can also bring out Gemini energy. Venus rules relationships, so Venus in Gemini makes us much more engaging, and we can prioritize mental connections. Mars rules energy, so Mars in Gemini increases our mental activity and helps us take action with ideas. Ceres is nourishment and resources, so we can get support for our ideas and come up with plans to be more resourceful. Jupiter rules expansion, so Jupiter in Gemini opens up our minds.

With Mercury being the ruler of Gemini, this amplifies Gemini energy when Mercury is in Gemini. We’re super engaged, expressive, curious, and focused on a variety of matters. We’re active and flexible mentally.

Saturn is the teacher, bringing lessons with whatever the sign it’s in rules, so Saturn in Gemini can focus on blocks to expression, using our minds, speaking up, and learning issues. This can come out when Saturn travels Gemini again starting in 2030 (it was last in Gemini in 2000 - 2003).

Transit Uranus is on the way to Gemini starting July 2025 (it was last in Gemini in the 1940’s), and with Uranus ruling change and the unconventional, we’re going to blow the lid off of our ideas and thoughts and ways of looking at situations and the world. We can come up with plenty of ideas for change, and we’re more focused on the future.

Chiron (the wounded healer) moves to Gemini in 2033, so at that point, we can focus on healing old wounds and issues impacting our ability to express ourselves, be confident in our mental abilities, and focus on voicing more support for those who need it most.

Neptune won’t come to Gemini until 1052; with Neptune being the spiritual planet, our minds and spiritual selves can come together, and we can have strong intellectual intuition. Transit Pluto doesn’t enter Gemini until 2127, so over 100 more years (will we be vampires by then? Or half robots like the tech idiots want?). By then, Pluto empowers and transforms via ideas.
