Do’s and Don’ts for Transit Pluto

Pluto is the planet of transformation, and is notorious for being destructive in nature. Pluto rips everything down, exposing the rotting core, and shines the bright light of day on what has been ignored. Pluto strips us naked and points out the flaws!

This isn’t to be mean though. Pluto knows that most transformations won’t occur unless the existing status quo is burned to the ground first. This can make us feel like victims, but Pluto doesn’t want us to be a victim. Pluto wants us to recognize the power we have.

Transit, or moving, Pluto spends a long time in each sign (up to two decades!), so we don’t live long enough to experience Pluto touring the entire Zodiac (yet?). This doesn’t mean any of us can avoid transit Pluto’s wrath - absolutely not! We pretty much all experience that wrath at some point, and it’s up to us how we emerge.

Pluto is the phoenix rising from the ashes, so the difficulties we experience with Pluto can be opportunities for us to rise like the phoenix. We have to burn first, and that can hurt a LOT, but what comes next is formidable.

Let’s cover some do’s and don’ts for making the most of transit Pluto:

DO transform of your own free will.

With Pluto’s base energy being to transform, this is the main requirement under hard Pluto transits. You must transform somehow, in some way, with some part of yourself or of your life. When you resist, this is when Pluto will burn everything to the ground, and you’re left a little bit of a shell. So, don’t resist!

Instead, assess what is being impacted by Pluto in your natal chart, what that rules, and what you can work to transform for yourself. Take control of the transformation, and Pluto will play along. Pluto wants you to take control, so show it who’s the boss.

The transformations may take some time, but they can be lasting, and they can give you so much more than you realize at the onset. By taking control, you’re empowering yourself, not just for now, but for years to come.

DON’T be stubborn or obsessive.

Pluto can become stubborn at times, and it’s the planet of obsession, so you may be tempted to throw yourself into something so deeply that you can’t see anything else. You may become so convinced of it that you refuse to acknowledge what you’re doing wrong, or that anything is even wrong at all.

Some space is necessary when dealing with Pluto so you can maintain a sense of the big picture. Without that, you lose perspective.

Refusing to consider that you may need to change your approach, or do things in a different way, also becomes detrimental to you. Some degree of an open mind helps, so try to keep that in mind.

DO face a fear.

Pluto is ruler of our fears, and hard Pluto can bring those fears out. We tend to run from them though, and don’t want to face them, and just shove them away. This doesn’t serve us well, and it festers and grows, worsens and deepens inside of us.

Face the fear instead of running from it. This can seem daunting, so you may want to just try a little bit at a time. But keep going with it, and face it.

Shine a bright light on it, and bring it into the cold day. See it realistically, and understand where it came from. This helps you to peel away the fear, until eventually you’re not scared at all. The monster under the bed becomes a tiny furball to cuddle with.

DON’T live in denial.

It can be easy to live in denial, but that doesn’t jive well with Pluto. Eventually, it catches up with you, and that whole facade gets ripped down in the most unpleasant, chaotic way. Pluto wants you to be realistic, so don’t give in to living in denial.

It’s time to see things as they truly are, warts and all. This might mean you have to see the truth about a situation in your life, a relationship, or some part of yourself, and that can be upsetting, but can lead to important transformations and understanding.

DO dig deep within yourself and your life.

Pluto rules depths, what we hold deep inside, and absolutely loathes the superficial. We can’t accept things at face value with Pluto, and need to understand that we have to dig deeper, within ourselves and our lives.

Pluto energy is excellent for research and investigation as a result, and this can assist you in finding the truth, finding solutions, and finding yourself.

There can be so much to learn from digging deeper, and you can help yourself to take more control and be more focused.

DON’T accept things at face value.

Jumping off of that, don’t let the surface fool you under Pluto. This just leads to problems down the line. Use the Pluto energy as an opportunity to see things as they really are, and to get below the surface. What comes to you at the onset might not be the full story, so keep looking into it and affirming evidence.

There’s more to the story, to the situation, to the person, than meets the eye, and at first glance. Initial instincts are important, but with Pluto, you have to learn that those instincts aren’t infallible, and you should still keep looking.

DO recognize your power.

Pluto also rules power, and wants you to recognize the power you have, and take hold of more. Look within to find your personal power, and gauge how comfortable you are with it. Pluto wants you to be at ease with that power, and to use it to your advantage.

Take advantage of opportunities to empower yourself, and this can give you more control in your life, and strengthen your will. You can become more formidable with Pluto, and can learn how to make what you want happen. This can serve you for the rest of your life as you step into the power you already have, and can keep this with you for life.

But do keep in mind that this isn’t power you take from others. That only annoys Pluto. This is power that is within yourself. You don’t have to take power from other people to make yourself powerful. That is only the thinking of the small-minded.

DON’T make yourself a victim.

With Pluto being so powerful and passionate and formidable, the last thing it wants is for you to be a victim, but it will if you refuse to take your power, take control, and rise. But this likely only happens if you’re running from doing the hard Pluto work, and you can make yourself out to be the victim (at least subconsciously).

Pluto wants to empower you, so you should focus on empowering yourself. You’re capable of more than you know, and Pluto can help you recognize some of that.

Recap:

  • take control of transformations

  • face fear and empower yourself

  • dig deep within and avoid the superficial

  • avoid obsession

  • don’t live in denial

  • see yourself as formidable
