Your 2025 Leo Season Checklist
Leo Season is coming, which means we’re entering the time of year where we’re more interested in love, fun, play, and being joyful. Serious stuff? Be gone!
The transit (moving) Sun travels at about the same speed, so it’s fairly constant. This means it tours every Zodiac sign at about the same time every year, spending about one month in each sign, and taking about one year to go through the entire Zodiac. When it’s in a Zodiac sign, this is the Zodiac Season, and we’re all focused on the energy of that sign thanks to the Sun shining its light.
The Sun tours Leo July 22nd - August 22nd 2025. This Leo Season kicks off with a Mercury retrograde in Leo, so we have to work to be smart with this Leo Season!
Follow this 5-point checklist to wisely navigate this Leo Season:
01: Reconnect with your heart with the Leo Mercury retrograde.
When the Sun enters Leo, Mercury will already be retrograde in Leo, which kicks off July 18th and runs until August 11th, so for most of Leo Season. Retrograde means Mercury is appearing to move backward through the Zodiac, and this can throw things off. But, retrogrades are excellent for the re-'s, including reconnecting, and with Leo being the heart-centric sign, that means Mercury retrogrades in Leo are great for reconnecting with the heart.
Leo Season likes to highlight what brings joy to our hearts and fills our hearts, hence this being a great time for vacations and get-togethers and all kinds of fun and plan. That can be even more important during this Leo Season with Mercury retrograde in Leo so we don't get grumpy and sour.
The Sun conjuncts (aligns with) Mercury retrograde on July 31st (7:41PM ET/4:41PM PT) at 9 degrees Leo. This is called the Inferior Conjunction, which occurs during every Mercury retrograde. It's considered a beneficial event, so this would be an excellent time to do something that connects with your heart. It can be something you work on for the following two months.
02: Take a different approach with the Leo New Moon.
Shortly after Leo Season begins, there’s a Leo New Moon on July 24th (3:11PM ET/12:11PM PT) at 2 degrees Leo. Since Mercury is retrograde, this means we have to find a different way forward, through, or around. The usually way doesn't usually work with Mercury retrograde, so focus on starting something with the New Moon, but in a way different from how you usually would, or how it's normally done.
Because this New Moon is early in Leo, it aspects the major planets that have entered new signs and is trine (beneficial aspect) transit Saturn and Neptune in Aries, sextile (beneficial aspect) transit Uranus in Gemini, and opposite (challenging aspect) transit Pluto in Aquarius. This does motivate us to go for something new since we're at the start of all new cycles with these four planets, and the New Moon is triggering their energy.
Ordinarily, with the Mercury retrograde, it's generally not a great time for anything brand new, but thanks to these planets all touching this New Moon, it can be. We just have to go about getting started in a different way.
The opposition to Pluto is the only challenging aspect, so we do have to make sure we're properly researching, putting passion to good use, and transforming as needed.
03: Prepare for Ceres retrograde.
Ceres retrograde begins on August 11th, so the end of Leo Season and the same day the Mercury retrograde ends, so we flip from one retrograde to another! The Ceres retrograde lasts until November 21st, and is entirely in fire sign Aries. Ceres is a dwarf planet ruling nourishment, support, and resources, so we can struggle with this, especially with anything new, our identities, our ability to take the initiative, or our independence.
Take time during the early part of Leo Season to get ready for this. We're all likely to lash out without getting enough support, and we can be super frustrated if we feel we lack options and are stifled.
Use the creative energy of Leo Season to come up with creative ways to utilize existing resources to give you more options. Plan for this in advance so you're not left scrambling when a problem arises.
Also spend some time during Leo Season taking care of your ego and boosting your confidence. This can help a lot when the Ceres retrograde kicks in since it might make us more sensitive and insecure.
04: Tend to relationships with Venus conjunct Jupiter.
On August 12th, Venus will conjunct Jupiter at 14 degrees Cancer, aligning the planet of relationships with the planet of expansion. This comes as Mars is freshly in Libra as of August 6th, the sign of relationships. This is excellent energy to focus on your relationships, partnerships, and alliances, and you can feel more connected with others.
For some, this might mean reconnecting with an old flame thanks to Mercury retrograde, while with others, it might mean improving existing love connections. This can be romantic love, but it can really be any kind of love. Cancer rules the family whileLeo rules children, so your relationships with those you think of as family and your children can also benefit from this energy.
With Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, you can work on improving the foundation for your connections, and giving more support to those you care about. You can strengthen your own support system as well, and can prioritize emotional understanding.
With Mars in Libra, you can be motivated to take action, and can find there's more energy available when you're working with a partner.
05: Use the cardinal t-square productively!
When Mars enters Libra, it will be opposite Saturn and Neptune in Aries, and all three will be square (3 signs away) Venus and Jupiter in Cancer, forming a t-square. T-squares are highly charged energy that can trigger challenging events in the world, and in the cardinal signs, this is usually super active, and we see a lot of events (many not good, unfortunately).
It's a lot of active energy, so it's important to channel this productively and positively to avoid the pitfalls and stay out of the traps of cardinal t-squares. In general, we may find that our connections are at odds, especially the self versus others, and this spills over into targeting emotional security, the homefront, and foundations. We're missing Capricorn, the sign opposite Cancer, which is the way out of the mess, so we need to be more disciplined, take the long view of things, and see how everything is connected.
Personally, you may find that the areas of life ruled by the houses in your birth chart where Mars, Saturn and Neptune travel are at odds with each other, and that spills over into the areas of life ruled by the house Venus and Jupiter occupy. The way out for you can be found in the house that opposes Venus and Jupiter, so give more attention to that house, and come up with ways to be productive and disciplined with that energy, and use it in smart ways.
We’ll technically have the t-square going until October 22nd (Mars is in Libra until September 22nd, Mercury September 18th - October 6th, the Sun September 22nd - October 22nd, and Venus October 13th to November 6th but Saturn exits Aries September 1st and Neptune exits October 22nd, ending the t-square). So, we have to manage this energy for about 2 1/2 months, which makes a plan in advance crucial.
Recap:
be very mindful of the Leo Mercury retrograde (do things differently and reconnect with the heart)
prepare for the Ceres retrograde (get confident and tend to ego needs)
take care of relationships
be productive with the cardinal t-square (channel the energy positively)
