What Is Your Dream Vacation According to Astrology
Summer-summer-summer time (that song is an oldie now but a goodie!). We’re getting to the time of year when many start to plan their vacations, and dream of a getaway. But what is your dream vacation?
In astrology, this would fall under the 9th house. There are 12 houses, each ruling something different in our lives, and the 9th house rules expansion, exploration, and adventure. It’s also a travel ruler, and governs flight.
Your idea of a dream vacation is usually found with your 9th house. Look to the Zodiac sign your 9th house falls in, any natal planets you have in your 9th house, and the 9th house ruler (the natural ruling planet of the sign your 9th house falls in).
You can also temporarily dream of vacations that are ruled by any transit (moving) planets touring your 9th house, or any changes involving your progressed 9th house (which involves the progressed chart; not for the newbies, so don’t worry about this one if you’re just starting out with astrology!).
Dreaming of the Water: Water Signs, the Moon, and Neptune
Your dream vacation is likely one that is by the water, on the water, or in the water if your 9th house falls in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces), if you have your natal Moon or Neptune in the 9th house (or transit Neptune touring your 9th house, but this is temporary), or if your 9th house ruler is conjunct (aligned with) your natal Moon or Neptune (or is conjunct transit Neptune, again temporarily).
With this water influence, you might dream of cruises, going to beachy locations to lounge, or booking a lakeside cabin. You may want to go to water parks, do things like kayaking or river rafting, opt for vacations where you can surf or waterski, or engage in water sports.
The Grand Adventure: Aries, Sagittarius, Mars, and Jupiter
Your dream vacation is likely one that involves a big adventure if your 9th house falls in Aries or Sagittarius, if you have your natal Mars or Jupiter in the 9th house (or transit Mars or Jupiter touring your 9th house), or if your 9th house ruler is conjunct your natal Mars or Jupiter (or is conjunct transit Mars or Jupiter).
You might dream of climbing Mount Everest, or doing daredevil types of things. You can dream of vacations that are lively and have constant motion, or that push you to your limits physically.
Travel Groups & Trends: Air Signs, Leo, the Sun, Mercury, and Venus
Your dream vacation is likely one that brings other people for the ride if your 9th house falls in an air sign (Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius) or in Leo, if you have natal Sun, Mercury, or Venus in the 9th house, or if your 9th house ruler is conjunct your natal Sun, Mercury, or Venus.
You may not want to travel alone much, and your dream vacation can involve going somewhere beautiful (or that’s a hotspot) with a partner, friend, or group, and having new experiences together that you’ll remember for a lifetime (and might look good on Instagram).
Going Wild (for a Purpose): Uranus
Your dream vacation is likely one that pushes you to venture far outside of your comfort zone if your natal Uranus is in the 9th house (or if transit Uranus is touring your 9th house), or if your 9th house ruler is conjunct your natal Uranus. This can mean going to places you’ve never been to before, that might seem really out there to everyone else, but it allows you to feel fully free.
This can be done for a purpose as well, and you might dream of traveling to places where you can do humanitarian work and make a difference.
Kicking Back: Earth Signs, Ceres, and Saturn
Your dream vacation is likely one that involves doing nothing but relaxing if your 9th house falls in an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn), if you have natal Ceres or Saturn in the 9th house (or transit Ceres or Saturn touring your 9th house), or if your 9th house ruler is conjunct your natal Ceres or Saturn (or conjunct transit Ceres or Saturn).
You just want to chill out - life is stressful enough! You’ve already got too much to do, so dream vacations for you involve not doing much of anything so you can reset. You may dream of being in nature and getting attuned to the Earth.
I’ll also note that with Saturn, if you have natal Saturn in the 9th house or conjunct your natal 9th house ruler, you may be someone who struggles with taking vacations and getting breaks, especially when young (generally under 30). That dream vacation may become a reality when you’re a lot older.
And when transit Saturn tours your 9th house, you likely don’t have many opportunities to take vacations, or they don’t end up being what you want. Generally not the best time for a vacation, so maybe wait!
