Astrology of Branding
Are you a budding spiritual entrepreneur? Or maybe a regular old entrepreneur who likes to sprinkle in the woo-woo every chance you get? The woo doesn't have to only be used for woo-woo topics, and totally works for business stuff too, including figuring out your branding.
For those of us working online, or even in person, branding is an important part of getting your work out there and reaching the right people in the right way. But, it can absolutely be anxiety-inducing to DIY, which you probably have to do if you're just starting and not super profitable yet. Gotta pinch those pennies at the beginning!
Need some guidance? Look to your natal chart! There can be lots of clues for what would work for creating your branding located in your birth chart. So, pull yours out and review the list below:
Breaking down the signs with some keyword ideas:
Before getting to the different positions, I want to break down each sign first with branding keywords and ideas so you have a sense of what each connects with:
Aries: bold and bright, fire colors, loud, in-your-face, hard edges
Taurus: maximalist, rich, saturation, soft lines, practical tone
Gemini: bright and colorful, two-tones or gradients, variety of styles for a variety of focuses
Cancer: home-y, comfort vibes, soothing tones, water inspo, grandma chic
Leo: bright colors, gold, very aesthetic-y, seventies vibes, playful and creative
Virgo: clean, minimalist, neutrals, organized, simple fonts
Libra: trendy, slick, feminine, romantic, art gallery vibes, luxury
Scorpio: moody, dark, serious, hard lines, black, moto, mysterious, occult-y
Sagittarius: bold colors and thick fonts, messy, daring vibes, pop art, funny
Capricorn: dark neutrals, clean, earthy, vintage, twenties or nineties vibes, authoritative,
Aquarius: futuristic or retro, eighties vibes, techie, art deco, made-up lingo
Pisces: boho, mystical, water inspo, mermaid-y, sixties vibes
You're likely going to use a mashup of more than one position, so don't worry about sticking to just one.
To that end, you can also look up the signs that connect to each planet and house. They are:
Aries: Mars & 1st house
Taurus: Venus (in an earth or water sign), Ceres, & 2nd house
Gemini: Mercury (in a fire or air sign) & 3rd house
Cancer: Moon & 4th house
Leo: Sun & 5th house
Virgo: Mercury (in an earth or water sign) & 6th house
Libra: Venus (in a fire or air sign) & 7th house
Scorpio: Pluto & 8th house
Sagittarius: Jupiter & 9th house
Capricorn: Saturn & 10th house
Aquarius: Uranus & 11th house
Pisces: Neptune & 12th house
The Ascendant and First House: The Outer Face
The Ascendant and first house is how you come across to the world, so it's a natural place to look in your natal chart for guidance with your branding.
You can consider the sign your Ascendant falls in, and any planets in the first house or conjunct the Ascendant. You can also assess the planetary ruler of the Ascendant, and its sign and house location, and if it's conjunct any other planets.
IRL I leaned heavily into my Scorpio Ascendant conjunct Pluto and first house Saturn, which rules Capricorn, for my prior website and biz, which went darker, moodier, cleaner, and more had serious, authoritative vibes.
You might prefer to learn more into the Ascendant and first house if you yourself are the face of your business.
The North Node: Potential and Purpose
The North Node is part of the Lunar Nodes, which are the points in the Moon's orbit where the Moon crosses the ecliptic. The North Node represents your potential and purpose in this life, and is a super positive position in your natal chart.
When you manifest your North Node, you're going with what you're meant to be doing, supposed to be doing, in this life, and that only leads to good things. This makes it a smart place to look toward when building your branding.
Look to the Zodiac sign your North Node falls in, the natal house it resides in, and if you have any planets in your North Node sign.
For Pursuit of the Cosmos, I decided to lean way more into my Taurus North Node, and the images here on the blog and on Pinterest are all very maximalist with bright colors and lots of graphics and pops of gold. I chose a color combination of orange, pink, and teal blue, with the occasional deep purple and bright chartreuse-green. But I still keep it clean with a white background and black text for the site.
The Eleventh House, Uranus, and Aquarius: Your Social Media Brand
Social media is ruled by the planet Uranus, the eleventh house, and the sign of Aquarius. This is said to be your social media face, so you can look to this trio for your social media branding.
Check the sign and house where your Uranus is located and any planets conjunct Uranus; the sign your eleventh house falls in and any planets in the eleventh house; and any planets or houses in Aquarius.
The Moon and Venus: Your Visual Brand
To drill down on your visual branding even more for pictures, graphics, video, etc. you can also look to your natal Moon and Venus.
Venus is the physical arts, and the Moon actually ties to the public. Since the Moon also rules emotions, adding the Moon can help with emotional connection to your branding.
Look to the sign and house your natal Moon and Venus reside and any planets they conjunct.
My natal Moon is in Pisces, bringing in the mystical, and conjunct the fifth house cusp, so I've been using more playful vibes with the visuals. My Venus is in Virgo and the tenth house, keeping me from overdoing it, and conjunct Mars, so I'm going louder.
The Color Asteroids: Color Choices
There are tens of thousands of asteroids out there, and many are simply random names, but many also link to something specific - like colors! There are asteroids for almost all of the main colors, so you can look them up in your birth chart and see which pop. Look for color asteroids that are:
in your 2nd house of money, 6th house of work, 9th house of marketing, or 10th house of career
conjunct the 1st house ruler, 9th house ruler, 10th house ruler, or natal Jupiter or Sun
conjunct an angle (Ascendant, Imum Coeli, Descendant, or Midheaven)
conjunct, square, or opposite the midpoint of the Ascendant-9th house, Sun-Jupiter, 9th house ruler-10th house ruler, pr 10th house ruler-Jupiter
The color asteroids are listed in the article about the colors you look best in according to astrology, so check it out >>>
Jupiter, Mercury, and the Third House: Your Brand Voice
There's the visual part of branding, and then there's the brand voice. This is your written words in blogs and emails, and what you speak in audio and video.
Look for the sign and house location for your natal Jupiter and Mercury, and any planets they are conjunct, and for any planets located in your third house and the sign your third house falls in.
While I still maintain some authoritative vibes, I'm trying to weave in more playful humor since my Jupiter is in the third house. Not everyone may get my jokes, but hey, at least I make myself laugh!
Extra: The Ninth House, Jupiter, and Sagittarius: The Marketers
Branding is your identity, while marketing is how you share it, so you can check out the marketing trio in your own natal chart to get an idea of how you can best put your brand out there. The ninth house is the house of marketing, Jupiter is the planet of marketing, and Sagittarius is the Zodiac sign of marketing.
Understanding how you may best approach marketing can help with figuring out your branding since you do want them to work well together.
Look to the Zodiac sign your ninth house falls in, any planets in your ninth house, the location of the ninth house ruler, the house your Jupiter resides, and any Sagittarius planets or houses in your natal chart.
